Holly is a girl like no other. She is poorly regarded by her classmates who call her a witch. She consoles herself in the only friendship she has, with Bart, a young autistic man. Events take a completely different turn since Holly had a premonition. His gift comes to light. She is able to cure illnesses. From then on, its cathartic energy is coveted by everyone. How to manage such a request? Her skills quickly go around the village, she is placed at the rank of saint, but the effect quickly takes on a witch-hunt feel.
Presented in competition at the Venice Film Festival, Holly is the fifth feature film by the Belgian filmmaker Fien Troch (Home, Unspoken) and co-produced by Jean Pierre And Luc Dardenne (The promise, Bicycle kid). Reminiscent of the classic Carrie at the Devil's Ballthe fantastic flirts with the adolescent emotions of Holly, suddenly exposed because of her mystical faculties.
The Flemish cast brings together Greet Verstraete, Felix Heremans, Els Deceukelier, Robbie Cleiren And Cathalina Geraerts.
Holly will be released on March 6, 2024 in theaters.
