How The Marvels laid the foundation stone for the Young Avengers

The birth of a new, younger team of superheroes is now underway.

Marvel has been teasing the arrival of Young Avengers in the MCU. But what are the Young Avengers ?

Created in 2005 in the comics, it is a team of teenage superheroes, who have links with established members of the Avengers. They will take over from the adults under Vision’s tutelage. And this could very soon happen in the cinema in the great saga of the Marvel Universe. Spoiler alert!

Indeed, the end of The Marvels brought out an unexpected cameo. Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld) received a visit from Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani), in a scene that strongly resembles another displaced post-credits scene (the film officially includes only one post-credits scene, with the X-Men). In true Nick Fury style, Miss Marvel comes to recruit the young archer trained by Hawkeye in the Disney Plus series, by offering to join forces with her to form a new team, in which Cassie Lang (Kathryn Newton). Kamala indeed cites Ant-Man’s daughter (who becomes Stature in the comics) as another potential member and this time we are there: the Young Avengers are currently being trained.

“We introduced a lot of great characters for the Young Avengers during Phase IV. We’ll see where they go and how they’ll form their own band…” said Kevin Feige this summer, on the sidelines of Comic-Con.

So who are the Young Avengers?

Beyond Cassie Lang, Miss Marvel and Kate Bishop, we should therefore see America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez), the dimension manipulator crossed in Doctor Strange 2but also Eli Bradley (Elijah Richardson) seen in Falcon and the Winter Soldier and who should be Patriot, a super-soldier. Finally, Billy (Julian Hilliard) and Tommy Maximoff (Jett Klyne), Wanda’s children, who we saw in WandaVisionseem destined to become Speed and Wiccan!

These young budding avengers are therefore intended to succeed their parents or their mentors on the big screen. And in the comics, they face, as if by chance, Kang the Conqueror! So the Young Avengers will they be the real heroes of Avengers: The Kang Dynasty (in 2026) or Avengers: Secret Wars (in 2027)?
