Is Loki becoming the MCU’s “God of Stories”?

One theory suggests that the character could take Kang’s place at the end of the series.

It has continued to evolve since its beginnings in Thorhis war in Avengershis death in Infinity War and his return to Engame then in Loki. The Marvel character is no longer the same in the Disney Plus series and he continues to change as season 2 comes to an end. Spoiler alert!

Episode 5 of Loki, titled “Science/Fiction”, ended with the God of Mischief taking control of his new time-sliding abilities. He now knows how to control his jumps and can thus “rewrite history” at will, as he himself says. An enormous power, which already exists in the comics.

Indeed, in the mid-2010s, faced with the growing popularity of the character within the MCU, Marvel Comics chose to move its Loki. In the pages of Loki: Agent of Asgard, the anti-hero ceased to be the God of Mischief and the God of Mischief to become… the God of Stories. He can manipulate and even rewrite narratives and histories, influencing the world around him to biblical and divine proportions!

According to one theory (defended by ComicBook), the season 2 finale of Loki will allow the character from the series to officially become the God of the MCU stories and he will take the place of the One Who Remains at the Citadel of the End Times. A thesis supported by Promo Designs which recently leaked online, presenting a new look of Loki in the Citadel, seemingly controlling the multiverse around him.

Such power could rise to the head of Loki and encourage him to take Kang the Conqueror’s place as the main antagonist of the Multiverse saga within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. If Loki If Kang disappeared, it would solve Marvel Studios’ problem with Jonathan Majors. Even if it doesn’t go that far, Loki will therefore have crucial power for the rest of the MCU and certainly in the next Avengers: The Kang Dynasty (in 2026 at the cinema)

This season 2 finale will air Friday on Disney Plus.
