It’s the end of Young Sheldon, the series will end after season 7

The Big Bang Theory franchise will be put on hiatus… while waiting for the new spin-off.

We’ve covered the story of Sheldon Cooper! From a young age to his Nobel Prize at almost 40, Chuck Lorre’s saga of the genius from Texas will come to an end next year. After the conclusion of The Big Bang Theory in 2019, it is Young Sheldon which will conclude in 2024.

Season 7, which will launch next Thursday, February 15, will be the last.

“As a prequel to one of the greatest comedies, Young Sheldon proved that lightning can strike twice”, comments the president of CBS Entertainment, in a press release Tuesday. “This prequel stood out with a remarkable cast that felt like family from the first moment we saw them on screen and brought the characters to life with unique and heartfelt stories that drew audiences in from the start. We can’t wait to see their final season unfold to deliver the best episodes yet for their fans to enjoy.”

Producers Chuck Lorre, Steve Molaro and Steve Holland also react: “Being able to tell the origin of Sheldon Cooper and expand the story to include the entire Cooper family was a wonderful experience. We are grateful to our fans for embracing this chapter of The Coopers over the past six seasons, and on behalf of the entire Young Sheldon family, we are excited to share this final season with you.”

If the series follows logic, Sheldon will be 14 in season 7 – the age at which, according to the previously established timeline of Big Bang Theory, the young man will move from Medford, Texas to Pasadena, California to begin his career. That same year, Georgie, Sheldon’s older brother, is to marry for the first time and the patriarch of the family, George, will die…

Young Sheldon will end on May 16, 2024 on CBS in the USA.
