James Cameron has ideas for Avatar 6 and 7

The filmmaker will probably not direct these sequels, but he could well (co)write them.

Franchise Avatar, initially planning three films, then five, would it now be extended to seven opuses? Even if it is not certain that he will make the last parts – the fifth film is dated for 2031, the year in which he will celebrate his 77th birthday – James Cameron confirmed to People Magazine that he still had creative ideas for Avatar 6 And 7.

“We’ve completely written the fifth film and I have ideas for six and seven, although I’ll probably hand over the baton at that point”, he confides.

Aware that the scheduleAvatar is exceptionally long-lasting, Cameron comments on the gap between the first opus, released in cinemas in 2009, and the 5th part already set for release in seven years: “Mortality is catching up with us. But I mean, we enjoy what we do. We love it, even. We work with great people”. Lucid on the situation, he speaks ofAvatar as an adventure distinguishing itself from his other films, as clearly being the project of his existence, given its expansion into a franchise with multiple episodes.

The filmmaker also responds to criticism from fans accusing him of only focusing on Avatarinstead of diversifying his artistic horizons: “People always ask us: ‘So why did you continue to work in the same field?’he begins, Why (George) Did Lucas continue to work on the same saga? For what (Embarrassed) Roddenberry (the creator of Star Trek) Did he continue to work in the same thing? Because when you connect with people, why would you squander that? Why would you start again with something else that might not suit them?“, explain James Cameron.

Avatar would thus have become the comfort zone of James Cameron ? In any case, the expansion of the Pandora universe in no way prevents Zoë Saldana to be excited about future films. In a recent interview for Collider she declares: “It’s going to be amazing. Avatar 3it’s going to be incredible and Avatar 4 And 5, It’s getting crazy, the star enthuses, (James Cameron) blew us away.” She also speaks of this saga as“legacy” from Cameron: “We thought it would be Titanic, but no, it’s Avatar. Avatar 3 should introduce a new Na’vi tribe. After the people of water, the third film will introduce us to the people of Ash, linked to fire. This is a “violent volcanic people” according to the terms of Jon Landauthe producer of the franchise, in an interview for Empire. The leader of this new hostile tribe will be played by Oona Chaplin (Game Of Thrones) the granddaughter of Charlie Chaplin. Avatar 3 is scheduled to hit theaters on December 17, 2025.
