“Sick style!” The new French series dedicated to the masked character will be available from September 6 on Paramount +.

“In 1821, Don Diego de la Vega became mayor of his beloved city of Los Angeles, which he intended to make prosper. However, the municipality is faced with financial problems due to the greed of a local businessman, Don Emmanuel, against whom the mayor’s powers prove insufficient to combat injustice. Diego hasn’t called on his Zorro double for 20 years. But in the name of the general interest, he has no choice but to bring out his mask and his sword. Very quickly, Diego will encounter difficulties reconciling his dual identity as Zorro and mayor, which puts a strain on his marriage to Gabriella, who is unaware of his secret. Can Diego save his marriage and his sanity amidst the chaos?

The synopsis of the series Zorro with Jean Dujardin was known, and the actor himself had leaked a few images on his Instagram to present the cast of this television adaptation of the character created in 1919 by Johnston McCulley. This time, it’s a first. teaser that Paramount unveils, and which presents a candle-lit, humor-infused swashbuckling series so frenchy by Jean Dujardin.

After (among others) Douglas Fairbanks, Guy Williams, Alain Delon or Antonio Banderasit’s Dujardin’s turn to put on Zorro’s boots, hat, cape and, above all, his mustache. “I haven’t been gone that long either,” grumbles the hero in this short trailer when we don’t recognize him. It’s still been a few years since we last saw him roam the desert on his faithful steed on the small French screens, and it’s Benjamin Charbit (Under control) And Noé Debré (Parliament), the co-creators, that we owe the eight episodes that will make up this first season.

If this teaser especially highlights Jean Dujardin donning his masked fox costume (which is not not in Suedethis time), we also discover Gregory Gadebois in Sergeant Garcia, Salvatore Ficarra in Bernardo, André Dussolier in Don Alejandro de la Vega, and Audrey Dana in Gabriella. Everyone evolves in a universe made up of the tinkling of gold coins, the whistling of blades, and nocturnal rides.

In addition to this first glimpse of the series, Paramount also announces its launch date: the new escapades of Zorro, Bernardo and Sergeant Garcia will be available to discover on Paramount + from September 6. Shortly after, the series will be taken over by France Télévisions.
