John Wick 5 is still being written, as are “multiple spin-offs”
This is (very) far from being the end for the franchise, confirms the president of Lionsgate.
After a lot of procrastination, it seems that John Wick 5 is indeed a reality. During a telephone discussion open to Lionsgate shareholders (the content of which is reported by Comic Book Resources), studio president Joe Drake has confirmed that a new film in the franchise is in the pipeline. This is not the only one: “ We have multiple spin-offs and John Wick 5 “, he assured, specifying that the writers started working on this fifth chapter just before the start of the strike. They of course returned to work as soon as it was over.
News obviously a little surprising because (be careful, big spoiler on John Wick 4 !) the character played by Keanu Reeves seemed to lose his life at the end of the previous film. Obviously, anything is possible, and Reeves will also reprise his role in the feature film Ballerina, which takes place in the same universe, with Ana de Armas in the shoes of a new killer. It’s difficult to know what projects Joe Drake is talking about when he talks about several spin-offs (other derivative series like The Continental: From the World of John Wick ?) but director Chad Stahelski has said several times in interviews that he wrote entire notebooks of notes and ideas that could fuel several films. He also announced a few days ago that an animated series is in preparation.
