Jon Bernthal talks Punisher’s return to the MCU and Daredevil

“If Punisher comes back, we’ll do it the right way.”

Last year, Marvel announced the return of Jon Bernthal as The Punisherin the next Disney+ series Daredevil: Born Again. A comeback which should not be called into question by the recent production reset.

“There’s a little bit of Frank Castle in everyone.”laughs the actor in Collider, to explain why his character is so popular.

“I think there’s a reason why this character resonates so deeply and strongly, in the hearts and minds of comic book fans, healthcare workers, military personnel, and people around the world. I think there’s a bit of Frank Castle in each of us. It exists very strongly in me anyway and I care deeply about this character.”

So, there is no question of ruining it in Daredevil: Born Again. “If it’s going to be done, I want it done right. With great respect for the original material. Great respect for what is at the heart of Frank. I’ll do my best to make sure that if Punisher comes back, we do it the right way.”

Recently it was revealed that Foggy Nelson and Karen Page were going to return in Daredevil: Born Again. So seeing Frank Castle again, also a veteran of the Netflix saga, would not be surprising at all.
