Jon Hamm still dreams of joining the MCU to play a supervillain
He almost played Mister Sinister in the X-Men reboot, and now talks about his interest in Doctor Doom.
In full promotion of the new season of the anthology series Fargo, Jon Hamm (Mad Men, Baby Driver) declares to Screenrant that he still hopes to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The actor had been at the center of discussions to interpret the supervillain Mister Sinister in a reboot of the franchise X-Menbut ultimately did not obtain satisfaction.
Being himself a great fan of comic books Jon Hamm has always made no secret of his desire to join the Marvel team: “These decisions are made at a very high level at this stage, it is no longer my responsibility. I would very much like. I have been a fan of Marvel Comics and comics in general since I was very young. I think there are tons of stories that are familiar to me, or at least worth telling.”
Wouldn’t a lifelong fan be the best candidate to join the MCU? As he says himself, he is already familiar with the extended universe and its characters, which will make the actor’s work easier for a potential role. But if he did not ultimately become Mister Sinister, enemy of the X-Men, Jon Hamm discusses his attraction to another villain… Doctor Doom.

“Hopefully, whatever their plans are, they include me. But otherwise, I know there are a lot of people out there ready to be a part of these stories. There are certainly a lot of stories to tell in the world of the X-Men. Likewise for the Fantastic Four, (like) Doctor Doom (Doctor Doom in French). (…) But yes, I hope I have a chance. Who knows ?”, he declares.
Jon Hamm in Doctor Doom, this is a suggestion that would certainly find its audience. Indeed, this iconic villain has not had an adaptation since the first Fantastic Four films in 2005 and 2007. The character was then played by Julian McMahon. Regardless of his marvelous dreams, Jon Hamm is in the cast of season 5 of Fargo which will be broadcast on Canal+ in 2024.
