Jonathan Glazer’s Sexy Beast becomes a series: trailer

A prequel for Paramount + carried by James McArdle and Stephen Moyer.

25 years ago, Jonathan Glazer made a name for himself with Sexy Beast, a feverish British heist thriller. This year, Paramount+ is relaunching the saga with a prequel series to the film (released in 2000), which will explore the origins of the complicated relationship between Gal and Don, as they find themselves thrust into the rowdy madness of London’s criminal underworld of the 1990s and Gal and DeeDee’s budding relationship threatens everything around them.

James McArdle (of Mare of Easttown) will reprise the role of Gal Dove while’Emun Elliott (The Gold) will be Don Logan. The duo of best friends, small-time thieves, saw the good life in East London in the 90s when Deedee Harrison (played by Sarah Greene of Bad Sisters), fascinating star of porn movies. Seeking to control her own destiny and her love story with Gal Dove, she ends up putting herself in danger. Stephen Moyer (True Blood) will be Teddy Bass, a traitor on the rise in the world of gangsters, who draws Gal and Don into his criminal web. Finally, Tamsin Greig (Episodes) will be Cecilia, Don’s formidable older sister.

The filming of Sexy Beast ended in Liverpool earlier this year. David Scinto and Louis Mellis, the screenwriters of the original film are producers. Sexy Beast will be launched in France on January 25 on Paramount +.
