Jonathan Majors will return to Denis Villeneuve’s brother

He will no longer be Kang the Conqueror, but John, the CIA agent in Merciless.

If for some, confronting the law is synonymous with the end of their career, for others, it is just a bad phase to go through. Jonathan Majors falls into this second category. After being convicted of domestic violence in April following charges of assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari, and escaping a prison sentence, the actor was fired from Marvel and removed from all of his projects – as biopic planned on basketball player Dennis Rodman, 48 Hours in Vegas. But without delay, his return to the cinema has just been announced in the next film of Martin Villeneuve.

Jonathan Majors says he is ‘shocked’ and ‘scared’ by his conviction

In the Villeneuve family, I ask for the brother. Much less known than his elder, Denis (First Contact, Dune, Fire etc), Martin Villeneuve stood out with his science fiction feature film March and April. He returns with a supernatural thriller, Merciless, in which Jonathan Majors plays Jon, a CIA agent who, after the woman he loves is overtaken by a malevolent force, is forced to become ruthless in order to fight her. This is the actor’s first role since his conviction.

According to the director:

“Thank you mixes different themes: possession, revenge, personal justice in a captivating story. It explores the psychology of John, played by Majors, and the supernatural forces that test his sanity.”

While Jonathan Majors must follow an intervention program against domestic violence, we can assume that filming should begin after this request from the courts.
