Kristen Stewart to star in her first series

She will play Sally Ride in a biopic about the astronaut, the first American woman to fly in space.

This is a first for the star of Twilight : Kristen Stewart is set to make her television debut, in the limited series The Challenger.

As reported by Deadline, the 34-year-old American will play Sally Ride, a real-life astronaut and physicist who became the first American woman to fly in space, as part of a NASA program in 1978.

Maggie Cohn (Narcos: Mexico) will serve as showrunner and screenwriter in this project which will be produced by Steven Spielberg. The Challenger is based on The New Guysa book by Meredith E. Bagby.

Kristen Stewart had made a little friendly cameo in the series Irma Vep by Olivier Assayas in 2022 but The Challenger will mark its first real TV series, which will be featured in Love Lies Bleedingthis week at the cinema.

The Challenger does not yet have an official broadcaster, but Amazon is reportedly on the verge of concluding a deal to recover the series for Prime Video.

Sally Ride – who died in July 2012 at the age of 61 – was also part of season 2 of For All Mankindthe Apple TV+ series, played by Ellen Wroe in Apple's second season.
