Lady Gaga was totally inhabited by Harley Quinn on the set of Joker 2

Lady Gaga Is she a follower of “method acting”? Obviously, the singer / actress absolutely wanted to stay in the skin of the character during the whole filming of Joker: Madness for twoin front of the Todd Philips camera, but also outside!
Lawrence Sher, the director of photography of joker 2, tells in a podcast how he had trouble communicating with the star, who did not want to be called Stefani (Germanotta), his real first name, on the set. Neither does Gaga. She wanted to be called Lee, probably Harley’s (Quinn) nickname in the movie.
“I didn’t know Stefani at all… and strangely, I feel like I’ve never met her. At first I wanted to be discreet, to give her her space… It’s kind of my way of doing things. But after a week of filming, I had the feeling that we weren’t at all in phase. not to read it… Either she hates me or we hate each other, but something weird is going on here”.
Lawrence Sher continues his story and confesses that they said very little to each other during production, a few words and banalities exchanged here and there…
“And then one day his assistant came up to me and said, ‘Stef would like you to just call him Lee on set!’ I was totally OK with that. So suddenly I started calling him Lee and suddenly everything changed between us. From that moment on, we were able to form a connection.”
From this little anecdote, we understand that Lady Gaga didn’t want to step out of character and stay that way as Harley Quinn all the time, even between takes.
In Joker: Madness for Two, Lady Gaga will respond to Joaquin Phoenix. The film should be released in theaters on October 2, 2024 in France.
