Marvel star announces retirement at 44!

Evangeline Lilly was Hope van Dyne, aka The Wasp of the MCU. She announces on Instagram her desire to leave film sets behind her.

She was one of the biggest female stars of the small screen in the 2000s, before joining the Marvel Universe. Evangeline Lilly is retiring today. At the very least, she is withdrawing from the profession, from filming and from Hollywood, at only 44 years old.

In a recent Instagram post, Evangeline Lilly shared an old clip of her on the set of Lost, dating from 2006. In the short video, someone asks the actress where she would like to be in 10 years and she responds that she would really like to be retired. In the comments to her post, she confirms having followed her desires.

“I am so filled with joy and contentment today as I live out my decision. I thank God and feel very grateful for all that I have. Distance yourself from wealth and fame, which seem to be the “obvious choices may seem scary, but stepping into your Dharma replaces fear with fulfillment.” comments Evangeline Lilly with this little reference to Lost. “Maybe I'll return to Hollywood one day, but for now, this is where I belong“.

The actress is therefore retiring to spend time with her family, write and take care of humanitarian actions. She leaves Hollywood behind without regret, and in particular the MCU and her role of Hope van Dyne, aka The Wasp of the MCU, seen in half a dozen films and very recently in Ant-Man: Quantumania.

For the moment, we do not know if Marvel will replace the actress or if the character will simply disappear from the Universe.
