Masters of the Air, the new Band of Brothers, will take off in January

Apple TV+ unveils the date and first images of the drama produced by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks about the Second World War, starring Austin Butler and Barry Keoghan in particular.

There have been Band of Brothers. There have been Pacific Hell. Here is Masters of the Air. Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks team up once again to depict World War II in an epic and heartbreaking way.

Austin Butler, Callum Turner, Anthony Boyle, Nate Mann, Ncuti Gatwa and Barry Keoghan will star in this new drama which will this time focus on a group of American bombers, in an adaptation of the novel by Donald L. Miller.

Apple announces – through the voice of executive producer Gary Goetzman – a “tribute to the men of the 8th Air Force who, through their courage and brotherhood, helped defeat Nazi Germany during the Second World War. Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg had long wanted to bring to the screen what author Don Miller describes as a singular event in the history of war.”

Masters of the Air will therefore show the daily life and bravery of the men of the 100th Bomb Group (the “Bloody Hundredth”) as they carried out perilous bombing raids on Nazi Germany, having to fight against extreme climatic conditions, lack of oxygen and terror of battles fought at 25,000 feet in the air. The series will also focus on depicting the psychological and emotional impact endured by these young men as they helped destroy the horror of Hitler’s Third Reich.

Composed of nine episodes, this mini series will be available from Friday January 26, 2024, with two first episodes, followed by a new episode every Friday until March 15, 2024.
