Mathieu Kassovitz challenges Saïd Taghmaoui: “I’m going to knock out all your teeth!”

The director of La Haine and one of his main actors are still in conflict, almost 30 years after its release.

“You’ve been living on this movie for 30 years and you’ve been spitting at me and talking shit for 30 years.”

Mathieu Kassovitz does not go out of its way to respond to the attacks of Said Taghmaoui on social networks. He even does tons of it, putting the actor in Hate challenged to physically fight him in a ring.

“I want us to resolve our problems,” he said in a first video, recorded over breakfast on Saturday morning. “And I want us to resolve them in public. Because Hate is a public film, it has been part of the community for 30 years. I want to resolve our issues in public because it actually makes me laugh.”

In 2021, the actor had published the book From Hate to Hollywood (Ed. Le Cherche Midi), in which he said blame Mathieu Kassovitz for not having credited him as co-writer of the film. The play partner of Vincent Cassel And Hubert Koundé then wrote black and white:

“Some of the most cult and memorable dialogues have come out of my life. You could still have quoted us on the dialogues, we still wrote half of them. It's my film too, whether you like it or not, it “It's my film. I'm one of the heroes of this film and I participated in the writing, in the creation of this thing and you're not going to take away my part!”

“Where did all that money go? he also called out to Saïd. Why don't you give some to Hubert? It's a charade. It's only Mathieu who earns money (…) it's his business.”

“You have become a caricature of yourself, continues today Mathieu Kassovitz, heated by new derogatory remarks from the 50-year-old actor (before challenging him again in another video, recorded 24 hours later, this time… while brushing your teeth!). To make you shut up for good about the film and the fact that you wrote the screenplay, that I'm a racist, thing, thing… I'm going to offer you something. A fight, in English boxing, 3×3, wherever you want. From September onwards, you will have time to prepare. All proceeds will go to your orphanage. (…)

I'm going to make up for 30 years of insults. (…) We will resolve our problems. I'm going to knock out all your teeth. (…)

I love you Saïd, I know you need love. But first, I'm going to beat the shit out of you. Because I'm sick and tired of you talking bad about us. I'm sick and tired of talking shit and that you managed to divide something that was basically something strong.”

Cillian Murphy is a fan of La Haine

All weekend, Mathieu Kassovitz questioned Saïd Taghmaoui on Instagrama social network on which he communicates directly with his fans: when he was injured on a motorcycle a few months ago, he had given reassuring news precisely on video. He has always been injured, but that does not prevent him from arranging to meet his former colleague and current enemy in September… a little before going out Hate in musical theater !

This project planned for La Grande Seine in Paris is entitled Hate So far nothing has changedand must start on stage in October 2024. A fight between Kassovitz and Taghmaoui would provide strange publicity for the project, but that is clearly what the director is aiming for, who concludes in a third video: “See you soon on the screens or even better in a boxing ring. Have a good day to everyone except Saïd Taghmaoui who can suck ladybugs.”
