Michael Mann loves rewatching Guardians of the Galaxy
“The structure of these films is really very well done,” considers the director of Heat and Ferrari.
No Spiderman nor of Superman in view for Michael Mann. Despite his last name which would lend itself so well to this type of production, the 80-year-old filmmaker explained in a podcast of The Playlist that he did not want to direct a superhero film. On the other hand, he admits to having a weakness for two of them: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1 And 2by James Gunn.
“You know, I only make films that I’m passionate about and that place me on a frontier. I’d like to be a traveling director, who goes from film to film, but I think I’m not very good at that . This doesn’t thrill me. On the other hand, I find that Guardians of the Galaxy, for example, it works extremely well. Not necessarily the last one, but the first two, I love seeing them again. The reason they work so well is that the structure of these films is really, really well done. They are exciting in their ability to extend the myth and create a new one. I find it a very interesting medium.”
