Mickey Mouse becomes the star of a horror film: trailer

On January 1, 2024, the first version of Mickey Mouse, dating from 1928, mascot for black and white short films Steamboat Willie And Plane Crazy, has entered the public domain. As the Disney studio celebrated its centenary in 2023, the little mouse imagined by Walt lost its copyright after 95 years of protection.
The hijackers did not wait to pervert and have fun with the character. Mickey’s Mouse Trap is an independent slasher film directed by Jamie Bailey. In an arcade, a group of young people decide to surprise their friend Alex whose birthday it is by coming to see her while she is stuck as a night guard. Unfortunately, the arcade room will become a trap and a serial killer covered in a Mickey mask will start a sadistic game of cat and mouse.
The trailer for this independent film is original in that it is the very first horror film to divert the character of Mickey. This phenomenon had already affected Winnie the Pooh, and a horror film Peter Pan is already in preparation to exploit the vein. Childhood idols seem to make perfect bogeymen when we come of age. Mickey’s Mouse Trap has no scheduled release date.
