Miles Teller to play Michael Jackson’s manager in biopic
He will play John Branca, whom the King of Pop hired in the early 1980s.
New star recruit to the casting of Michaelthe Michael Jackson biopic. Miles Tellerstar of Whiplash And Top Gun: Maverickhas just joined the film directed by Antoine Fuqua.
Lionsgate and Universal Pictures International confirm he will play John Branca, lawyer and manager of Michael Jackson for much of his career. He was hired by the King of Pop in the early 1980s, when Michael stopped working with his father, the tyrannical Joe Jackson, who would be played by Colman Domingo.
“Miles is a strong screen presence, who I’ve admired since seeing him in Whiplash. He is the perfect actor to capture the enigmatic character of John. From our first conversations in development, we established that there was an emotional connection between John and Michael. He graciously allowed us to use him as a character in the film and I’m thrilled that it will be Miles who will embody this relationship that has spanned three decades, through success and hard times alike.“, comments the producer.
The film, written by John Loganshould be simply titled Michael. The little Juliano Valdi will play the younger version of the singer, when he was in The Jackson Five. No other names have been leaked. Theatrical release in 2025.
