Milly Alcock will play Supergirl in the new DC universe!
The young 23-year-old star, revealed by House of the Dragon, amazed James Gunn during the auditions.
From Westeros to Krypton, there is only one step! Milly Alcockrevelation of the first season of House of the Dragonthe series derived from Game Of Throneswill soon play in the cinema the new Supergirl from DC Studios.
She emerged the winner of the long casting process, overtaking in the final stretch the actress of CODAEmilia Jones and Meg Donnelly, who was already doubling Supergirl in DC animated films.
The new boss of DC Studios, James Gunnconfirms on Instagram: “That’s right. Milly is an incredibly talented young actress and I’m incredibly excited for her to be a part of the DCU. Yes, I first noticed her in House of the Dragon but was blown away by her varied auditions and screen tests for Supergirl. She will embody Kara as we envisioned her.”
The 23-year-old Australian actress, who played young Rhaenyra Targaryen in the first six episodes of House of the Dragonwill indeed be the Kryptonian heroine of the next film Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow and before that, she should already make an appearance at her cousin’s house, in the first part of the new franchise, Superman Legacyfacing David Corenswet.
Milly Alcock succeeds Helen Slater (in the 1984 film), Laura Vandervoort (in Smallville), Melissa Benoist (in the series Supergirl) and more recently Sasha Calle (who played the character in The Flash).
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow does not yet have a director or release date. Superman: Legacy will be released on July 11, 2025.
