Mr & Mrs Smith: season 2 is already being imagined
“We certainly have some exciting ideas…”
The 8 episodes of Mr & Mrs Smith have been available since Friday on Prime Video. And inevitably, you wonder if a season 2 will follow.
The co-creator Francesca Sloane answers this question in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, suggesting that the open ending of the last episode leaves room for other stories:
“We wanted to make this season a complete story first, even if the ending is what it is. We watched a lot of movies from the 1960s and 70s. I like the way a lot of movies from that era end. Like the ending of The Graduate, which is perfect without delivering everything. We felt like we were telling a great, complete story in that sense. Now, we’ve definitely already started discussing ideas for season 2!”
The one who imagined this return of Mr & Mrs Smith with Donald Glover explains wanting to first be sure to do something that is “better than the first season. So it will really depend. We’ll see what life offers us, but we certainly have some exciting ideas. It will also depend on how season 1 is received.”
She finally suggests that there should be another screenwriter in the mix than this possible season 2 of Mr & Mrs Smith is successful:
“We’re collaborating right now with Donald and Taofik Kolade, who also wrote Atlanta with us. He’s incredible and I think he would be a great addition to Scrupt, if we move forward with Season 2 of Mr & Mrs Smith. We will see.”
