Nazis and Haute Couture, it’s The New Look: trailer

A new prestigious series for Apple TV+ with Ben Mendelsohn in the role of Christian Dior and Juliette Binoche in the role of Coco Chanel.

This will be one of the streaming events at the start of the year. Apple TV+ will launch very soon The New Look (also to be seen in France on Canal +), a new prestigious historical series, in costumes, taking place under the occupation in the 1940s. A great drama during and after the Second World War, which tells the moral dilemma which undermined the big names of French Haute Couture in the face of Nazism, and the rivalries that resulted from it. Juliette Binoche will be Coco Chanel, with the awesome Claes Bang (The Square) who will be Dincklage, known as “Spatz”, her lover from the Third Reich. In front, Ben Mendelsohn will play Christian Dior, a young rising figure in fashion design who works at Lucien Lelong, played by John Malkovichwhile his younger sister (played by Maisie Williams who finds here his first major post-Game Of Thrones) will be Catherine Dior, a resistance fighter with an incredible destiny. Emily Mortimer will be Elsa Lombardi and Glenn Close will also be part of the parade of stars.

Created by Todd A. Kessler, Tea New Lookfilmed exclusively in Paris, will be inspired by a true story.

The official synopsis: “Taking place in Paris under Nazi occupation, the French capital brings the world back to life thanks to its fashion icon, Christian Dior. As the latter gains notoriety thanks to his revolutionary imprint, an emblem of beauty and influence, The reign of Coco Chanel, previously considered the world’s most famous designer, is in jeopardy. The series follows the surprising and intertwined stories of Christian Dior’s contemporaries and rivals, from Chanel to Pierre Balmain to Cristóbal Balenciaga and many others; and offers a magnificent dive into the workshop, the creations and the clothes created by Christian Dior in collaboration with the House of Dior.”

The soundtrack of the series brings together covers of popular songs from the first half of the 20th century performed by many artists such as Bleachers, Florence Welch, Lana Del Rey, Matty Healy (The 1975), Beabadoobee, Nick Cave and Perfume Genius among others. others.

The first three episodes of The New Look will be available on Wednesday, February 14, 2024 on Apple TV+, followed by an episode every Wednesday until April 3.
