Nicolas Cage discusses his role as Superman in The Flash

Nicolas Cage is even more afraid of AI since The Flash

“AI is a nightmare for me.” The actor says that the result of his cameo does not correspond at all to what he did on set.

During an interview for Yahoo Entertainmentthe actor Nicolas Cage recounts his surprise when he discovered that his cameo as Superman in The Flash didn’t look at all like what he did on set. The cameo in question is a little nod to an aborted film project. After his success with the character of Batman at the turn of the 1990s, the director Tim Burton should have made a movie about Superman and Nick Cage was selected for the role. The film having never been made, the cameo of The Flash came to pay a little homage to this film that we will never see.

Unfortunately, the star of the next Dream Scenario recounts with concern that the result on the screen is not what he expected: “I had to stand and pretend to be in an alternate dimension, and witness the destruction of the universe”, he explains. The actor therefore remained on the set for “approximately three hours”, without any line of dialogue, almost motionless and playing only with his gaze. A rather sober cameo overall.

The Flash: a finally lighter superhero film (review)

When I went to see the movie in the theater, I saw myself fighting a giant spider. I have never done that”, is indignant Nicolas Cage. Indeed, a fight between a giant spider and a stationary plane does not require the same way of playing at all. This is where the subject of AI comes to the table: “I don’t think it was an AI. I just think they used it, and completely out of my control.

Nick Cage agrees with the opinion of Tim Burton on the danger that Artificial Intelligence represents: “I see very well what Tim means.” referring to previous comments by the filmmaker describing AI as “a robot taking over your humanity, your soul” (via Variety). The actor shares this concern: “I would be very unhappy if my art was taken from me… if it was appropriated. (…) AI is a nightmare for me.

As AI becomes more and more prevalent in the film industry, professionals and stars are each taking sides. There are those who worry about the future of the profession like Nick Cage Or Burtonand those who don’t care like Guillermo del Torowho fears more the “natural stupidity”. Waiting for, Nicolas Cage is on display (in the flesh) of Dream Scenario, in theaters on December 27. Here is the trailer:
