One Piece: what we know about season 2

The producer reveals where the continuation of the Netflix live action series is.

In recent days, it has enjoyed spectacular success on Netflix: the series One Piece in live action is successful in many ways and fans are already asking for the sequel. However, this is not for tomorrow. Co-showrunner Steven Maeda warns in Variety that this season 2 of One Piece is not yet in the pipeline. It has not yet been officially ordered by Netflix.

“I don’t want to talk about the rest of One Piece for the moment, simply because this first season was really huge to put together. It’s been a wonderful challenge, but it’s taken years of our lives and I really want to focus on that, on the launch.”

Eiichiro Oda’s manga is “massive and huge” and the series still has a lot of things to explore, he admits despite everything. As was teased from the post-credits scenes, including the entry on stage of a mysterious character burning the Luffy’s “wanted” poster. Who is he?

Maeda refuses to confirm, but it is obviously Smoker, who is always seen in the manga smoking two cigars at once: “I don’t want to confirm or deny at this point. But it’s a good mystery, I think, and it should get people looking and wondering what’s going to happen…“There is no doubt that he will have an essential role in season 2 of One Piece.
