Only half-filmed, Deadpool 3 will be postponed by Disney-Marvel

The company should first release Captain America: Brave New World, for which shooting has been completed.

The actors’ strike continues, and this is starting to impact productions planned for 2024. Deadline is thus interested in the case of Deadpool 3, which should have been released on May 3 in the United States, but which will never be ready in time, assures the Hollywood site. Even if the negotiations result in an agreement before the end of the year, the time to bring together the entire team and shoot the missing scenes, then ensure its post-production, this deadline cannot be respected.

Because Deadpool 3 has so far only been half-shot. Its director Shawn Levy, who is directing this sequel from a new script by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, the authors of the first two opuses, has clearly announced that he still has several weeks of filming left.

It will be the first to be released under the production of Disney-Marvel, its first two opuses having been supervised by Fox. The history of the two studios will also be mentioned in the scenario, warned Levy. It will also be the first superheroic production of the MCU to be stamped R-Rated, i.e. not recommended for under 17s unaccompanied by an adult, which suggests that Deadpool will retain its trashy humor.

Since its announcement, this project has been closely scrutinized by fans of superhero films, who can’t wait to see Deadpool and Logan reunited on screen. Without a certain apprehension, since the story of the clawed mutant had been brilliantly completed in his 2017 solo film directed by James Mangold. Reynolds and Jackman get along famously, and they both trust the director, who previously directed them in Free Guy And Adam through times for the Canadian actor and Real Steel for the Australian.

If its story is currently kept secret, the team having only teased “a 48 hour duo” and promised to respect the heritage of Logan, the making of the film was not easy. His filming having started during the writers’ strike, Ryan Reynolds had ban on improvising on set (which is annoying given the appearance “meta” of this role and the constant rewrites to stay as close as possible to current events), then when SAG-AFTRA joined the WGA union, the team was forced to stop production.
