Oppenheimer crushes Barbie (and Scorsese) at the 2024 Golden Globes

Christopher Nolan is the big winner of the evening, with 5 prizes. Margot Robbie is content with consolation prizes. The whole list.

There was a big winner at the end of the 81st ceremony Golden Globe Awardsand it was Christopher Nolan. The British filmmaker won a clear, clear and undisputed victory last night in Los Angeles. Her Oppenheimer won 5 statuettes including the main one, that of Best Dramatic Film, but also that of Best Director or Best Actor. Above all, Oppenheimer made short work of its summer rival. barbie is clearly the big loser of the evening. Beaten in all major categories, Margot Robbie had his comedy spotlight stolen by Poor Creatures And Emma Stone. She ultimately has to settle for two small secondary prizes (that of the song and that of the box office invented recently to reward public hits). barbie even lost the screenplay prize, to everyone’s surprise, to the Frenchwoman Justine Triet and his Anatomy of a Fallwhich leaves with two awards (including Best Foreign Film).

Anatomy of a Fall by Justine Triet scores a historic double at the Golden Globes

It’s not much better for Killers of the Flower Moon, Martin Scorsese’s 3h40 masterpiece. If Lily Gladstone won her Best Actress prize which was intended for her, the defeat of Robert de Niro in front of Robert Downey Jr. (For Oppenheimer) perhaps stands out as the big aberration of the evening.
