Out of Darkness, a survival game in the Stone Age (trailer)
A chilling first feature film from the producers of It Follows and It Comes at Night.
In time immemorial, the first humans had only one concern: survival. Out of Darkness is the first feature film ofAndrew Cumming and tells the story of a clan of Stone Age hunters in search of a new land. During their journey, they fall prey to a mysterious beast, which forces them to confront unimaginable danger. The pitch of this first feature is quite simple but the images in the trailer reveal an aesthetic added value which underlines the care taken in the staging.
Funded by the producers of It Follows, Saint Maud And It Comes at Nightt, this prehistoric survival presents a unique cast of actors at the start of their careers: Kit Young (The School of Good and Evil), Chuku Modu (Captain Marvel), Iola Evans (Choose or Die), Luna Mwezi (The Colony), Safia Oakley-Green (She Said) And Arno Luening of which this is the first film. So many new faces in this oppressive trailer in which not a single image shows the nature of the threat. In this, the mystery remains intact, pushing us to go and discover it for ourselves in the dark rooms.
For this project, my director completely recreated an ancient language with the help of a linguist and an archaeologist. Out of Darkness should be released on February 9, 2024 in the United States and does not yet have a confirmed release date in France.
