Paralyzed on the set of Harry Potter, Daniel Radcliffe’s understudy will have his doctor

HBO will broadcast David Holmes: The Boy Who Lived, dedicated to David Holmes, tragically injured on the set of Deathly Hallows.

Warner Bros. announces the release on its HBO channel of a documentary film dedicated to David Holmesthe waterfall lining of Daniel Radcliffewho suffered a dramatic accident on the set of Deathly Hallowsleaving him paralyzed.

David Holmes: The Boy Who Livedwill be released in November, and will tell the story of the collaboration between the young English actor and his stuntman who accompanied him from the first opus to the Deathly Hallows, Part 1. It was during this production that he suffered a tragic spinal injury while performing a stunt, leaving him paralyzed from the waist down.

The official synopsis promises us “the story of stuntman David Holmes, a prodigious teenage gymnast from Essex, England, selected to play Daniel Radcliffe’s understudy in the first Harry Potter film. When Daniel was only 11 years old. Over the next 10 years, the two form an inextricable bond, but in the penultimate film, a tragic accident on set leaves David paralyzed by a spinal injury, turning his world upside down. As Daniel and his closest stunt colleagues rally to support David and his family through these difficult times, it is David’s extraordinary spirit of resilience that becomes their greatest source of strength and inspiration.”

Daniel Radcliffe will be producer of this doc which will feature personal footage shot over the past decade, behind the scenes of David Holmes’ stunt work as well as his daily life today. There will be on-camera interviews with Daniel Radcliffe, his friends, family and former team.”

David Holmes: The Boy Who Lived was directed by Dan Hartley.
