Pedro Pascal, drunk to receive a prestigious award

“I’m a little drunk,” The Last of Us actor admitted on stage at the SAG Awards.

We can almost see the end of the ceremony season! This Sunday took place the SAG Awards, organized by the Hollywood actors’ union, and one of the last important stages before the Oscars ceremony, scheduled for March 10. After a year disrupted by a major strike and weeks of negotiations, it was an opportunity for union members to unwind during a ceremony transcribed live on Netflix. An instruction to relax taken a little too literally by Pedro Pascal

While Kieran Culkin was the big favorite in the race for Best Actor in a Drama Series for Successiona twist, it was Pedro Pascal who won the prize for his role in The Last of Usat the same time ahead of Brian Cox (Succession), Billy Crudup (The Morning Show), Matthew Macfadyen (Succession). And it is slightly tipsy that the interpreter of Joel Miller rushes on stage to accept his reward.

“This is wrong in many respects”begins Pedro Pascal in front of his friends, laughing. “I’m a little drunk. I thought I could indulge in drinking. I am making a fool of myself, but I thank you deeply!”

First major prize for the actor who had distinguished himself in several memorable roles on the small screen, including that of Oberyn Martell in Game Of Thronesby Javier Peña in Narcos and the Mandalorian in the homonymous series. It was ultimately in the HBO series adapted from a video game that the actor’s popularity exploded last year.

This award nonetheless remains a surprise for the actor, who had seen this category won twice (at the Golden Globes and at the Emmys) by Kieran Culkin of Successionwith whom he enjoys maintaining a fictional quarrel. However, Pedro Pascal recalls a militant commitment which surely weighed in the balance. The one we saw on the picket lines last summer recalls this: “I’ve been part of the union since 1999, so it’s really a f*cking honour”.

A consecration which rewards an actor whose career is finally taking off and who is not likely to decline any time soon. In 2024, the 48-year-old American-Chilean actor will be in the casting of several ambitious productions, including Gladiator 2 of Ridley Scott And Eddington ofAri Aster. The coming year will also see the start of production on the second season of The Last of Us in which he will participate and, icing on the cake, Marvel announced ten days ago that Pedro Pascal would wear the costume of Mr Fantastic/Reed Richards in the highly anticipated reboot of Fantastic Four which should be released in 2025.
