Priscilla Presley is delighted with Sofia Coppola’s film and reveals her truth about her life with Elvis

She was only 14 when they met. “But he never took advantage of my youth,” assures the King’s widow, who actively collaborated in the film dedicated to his life and presented this week in Venice.

After the biopic Elvis by Baz Luhrmann, it is Sofia Coppola which tells the story of Priscilla Presley In Priscillaoffering a more feminine perspective of this American story.

The true Priscilla Presley, 78 years old today, was in Venice yesterday, where the film was presented during the Mostra. And she made a surprise intervention during the press conference.

“It’s very difficult to sit down and watch a film about you, about your life, about your love“, admits Elvis’ widow, with tears in her eyes. She then confides that she was very involved in the writing: “Sofia did an incredible job. She did her homework perfectly, we both talked a few times and I really did everything I could for her.”

Cailee Spaeny plays its role in Jacob Elordi in the role of the King. The film recounts their very first meeting, when she was only 14 years old, during the rock n’ roll star’s military service in Germany. But Priscilla Presley made it clear, during the press conference, that Elvis had not taken advantage of his youth: “It was very difficult for my parents to understand that Elvis was so interested in me and why. And I really mean it because I was listening more. Elvis confided everything to me, he revealed his heart to me in Germany: his fears, his hopes, the loss of his mother – from which he never recovered. And I was the person who really, really sat there listening to him and comforting him. It was truly our connection. Even though I was 14, I was actually a little older in my head. That was the attraction between us. People think it was purely sexual, but no. It wasn’t like that between us. I wasn’t sleeping with him at that time. He was very kind, very gentle, very loving, and he also respected the fact that I was only 14 years old. We were in sync in spirit and that was the basis of our relationship.”

In the wake of his confessions, Priscilla Presleyadmits that she never really knew “why did (Elvis) trust me so much, but that’s how it was. We saw each other secretly at first and he liked it. I never let him down in any way. I never told anyone at school that I was seeing him. So we built a relationship and our relationship continued until I left him. Not because I didn’t love him anymore – he was the love of my life. It was this lifestyle that was too difficult for me, and I think any woman can relate to that. But it didn’t ruin our relationship, and we still remained very close. We had our daughter and he saw her all the time. It was as if we had never left each other…”

Priscilla of Sofia Coppola will be released in the USA on October 27 and does not yet have a French date.
