Reacher Star Almost Became MCU's Thor: 'I Didn't Take the Audition Seriously'

All eyes are now on Alan Ritchson to play the future Batman…

Considered as an ideal future Batman, Alan Ritchsonmade revelations about the tempting proposals that were made to him, particularly with regard to superheroic productions.

To date, the 41-year-old actor is starring in Reacheran action series following a former soldier converted into a wanderer, who takes to roaming different countries, on the lookout for each other's most perilous investigations.

Alan Ritchson declared to Men's Health that he was, before that, the favorite for the role of Thor, the flagship character of the MCU.

“I didn't take it seriously. I said to myself : 'They'll cast me in the role if I look like this guy, no one cares about acting.'”

After the audition, the casting directors admitted that the role “was for him“, but Alan Ritchson “had not shown the extent of his acting talent“. We know the rest. The Asgardian god of thunder, founding member of the Avengers, was entrusted to the Australian actor, Chris Hemsworthsoon to be shown in Furiosa.

Does this memory make the actor Reacher completely hammer? This role could have served as a decisive springboard in his acting career. He says today that he took the failure of his audition more seriously than the audition itself. At the time, the actor was banking more on comedy offerings, but there was disillusionment:

“I kind of expected there to be an abundance of comedies to choose from, and no one really wanted to see me for anything“, he explains.

Alan Ritchson is not just physical, however. Certainly, it seems more credible in Reacher that Tom Cruise (Jack Reacher), but it doesn't just have to do with his stature. Alan Ritchson studied theater arts in Florida. His skills have landed him roles in blockbusters, like Hungers Games: Catching Fire Or Fast & Furious.

Season 3 of Reacher was ordered by Amazon in December and the cast (which now includes Anthony Michael Hall And Sonya Cassidy) is currently filming in Toronto. Remember that season 2 of Reacher was number 1 trending worldwide on Prime Video in 2023.

Alan Ritchson can console themselves with this success, several years after his role as an aquatic superhero in Smallville, where he played Aquaman. Recently, all eyes have been on him to take on the role of the future black knight. The actor could play a more mature Batman, ideal for taking the young and intrepid Robin under his wing…
