Belgian director Michial Blanchart is releasing his second feature film, a gripping thriller that will be released in theaters on August 28, after its run at the Biarritz Festival.

“That evening, Mady, a student by day and a locksmith by night, sees his life turned upside down when he opens the wrong door and accidentally becomes an accomplice in a case of organized crime. In the heart of a city in turmoil, Mady has only one night to get out of trouble and find the trail of Claire, the one who betrayed her trust. The countdown begins…”

Chases, exchanges of fire, heavy-handed interrogations, stalking against a backdrop of Black Lives Matter demonstrations… The Night drags presents all the ingredients of a good thriller, and that’s without counting its main character, Mady, a lamb trapped in a world of wolves. On a remix of “The Night Never Ends” by Petula Clark, the film presents itself in its trailer as a condensed version of old-school action:

This is the second film of Michial Blanchartwho had adapted You are dead Helenehis short film mixing comedy, horror and terror, into a feature film two years ago. This time, the young director turns to the thriller in The Night Drags Onfor which he also wrote the screenplay in collaboration with Gilles Marchandknown for having thought, with Dominik Mollthe episodes of another night, that from 12.

A partnership that has borne fruit since The Night Drags On has already won the Audience Prize at the Biarritz Festival.

On the casting side, the Belgian filmmaker is thinking big, gigantic even, by paying for the presence of Romain Duris who, as a secondary character, nevertheless gives a certain cachet to this distribution. The film is nonetheless structured around the character of Mady and her interpreter, Jonathan Feltrewhich we have already seen in Black soldier and in The Rascalstwo films by Jimmy Laporal-Trésor.
