For /Film, producer Simon Kinberg brings good news and announces that the remake, by Edgar Wrightdirector of Shaun of the Dead And Scott Pilgrimcould turn around within a few months.

“Edgar is one of my favorite directors of all time and one of my favorite people. He’s just a super awesome guy and clearly a huge movie fan. We’re actively working on this remake. He’s actively working on the script with Michael Bacall. And our hope, if everything goes well and all the planets align, is that we can make it happen next year!”

Filming in 2024 hoped for. “And the cool thing is, Edgar always said that if there was one movie that he would want to remake, it would be Running Man ! He always thought that, way before Paramount and I started figuring out how to get the rights… which was complicated.”

Written by Stephen King, the novel Running Man (published in 1982) is set in 2025 and follows the story of a man named Ben Richards who participates in a deadly game show, called Running Manin which he is declared an enemy of the state and hunted by hitmen, on a minefield.

Obviously, the release of a Running Man in 2025 would take on its full meaning, almost 40 years after Paul Michael Glaser’s first film (1987) with Arnold Schwarzenegger in the role of Ben Richards.
