Sarah Michelle Gellar to be Dexter’s boss in new series

She joins Patrick Dempsey and Christian Slater in the cast of this new prequel ordered by Showtime and Paramount.

It seems that the famous vampire hunter will soon have to work hand in hand with Dr. Mamour. A few days ago, we learned that Patrick Dempsey (Grey’s Anatomy, The Truth About the Harry Quebert Affair) has joined the cast of Dexter: Original Sinnext to Patrick Gibson, Molly Brown, Christian Slater or Christina Milian.

Now, Showtime announces the arrival of another new head at the Miami Metro Homicide department office: Sarah Michelle Gellar.

Pop culture icon of the 2000s thanks to his badass role in Buffy the Vampire Slayershe made some notable appearances on the big screens, notably as Daphne in two films Scooby-Dooand as a big baddie facing the angelic Reese Witherspoon In Sex Intentions (Cruel Intentions in VO). Last year, she made her comeback on the small in Wolf Packseries of Jeff Davies (Teen Wolf), developed for Paramount+.

But this time, there is no question for Sarah Michelle Gellar of fighting fantastic creatures or dark forces. In the prequel to Dextershe will play Tanya Martin, the head of the CSI (Crime Scene Investigation) department where Dexter Morgan takes his first steps in “beginner intern in forensic medicine”.

For Showtime and Paramount, this casting is good news. In a press release, the management of the network expresses its enthusiasm:

“Sarah Michelle Gellar is a pop culture icon who perfectly complements our all-star cast that includes Christian Slater and Patrick Dempsey, among others. We are thrilled to have her return to the Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios family and join the original story of the franchise Dexter.

A franchise that takes a leap back a few decades, the official synopsis specifying that in “1991 in Miami, Dexter is a student on the verge of becoming a serial killer. When his bloodthirsty urges can no longer be ignored, the young man finds comfort and understanding with Harry, his adoptive father. This teaches him rules to help him spot and kill people who deserve to die, while avoiding being cornered by the police. This is a particular challenge for the entry-level forensic pathology trainee at the Miami Police Department.”

For her part, Sarah Michelle Gellar also expressed her enthusiasm on Instagram. She posted a photo of the script for this new series. In the caption: “It’s going to be a bloody adventure.”.

The ten episodes of Dexter: Original Sin will be broadcast on Paramount + in France.
