Scorsese doesn’t want to hear complaints about Killers of the Flower Moon’s length

“Respect cinema,” the director responds to those who find that a 3-hour film is too long.

Last year, James Cameron made fun of viewers complaining about the long duration of his sequel toAvatar.I don’t want to hear anyone whine about the length of a film when they are capable of binge-watching a series for eight hours straight!” exclaimed the director before the public agreed with him by voting The Way of Water. Faced with the comments on the 3h26 of Killers of the Flower Moon, Martin Scorese repeats this same argument.

“People complain that they’re three hours long, but anyway: you can all sit in front of the TV and watch a series for five hours, he answers in Hindustan Times. There are also plenty of spectators who go to the theater for three and a half hour plays. There are actors on stage, so they can’t get up and go for a walk. We respect that. Well, respect the cinema.”

The filmmaker delivers a long interview to the Indian newspaper, confiding for example his joy at seeing Barbenheimer attract large numbers of audiences to cinemas this summer or explaining thethe special link that he has with Robert De Niro, whom he directed for the tenth time in fifty years in Killers of the Flower Moon.

Here is the story of this new film, acclaimed at the last Cannes festival and expected in France from October 18: “At the beginning of the 20th century, oil brought fortune to the Osage people who, overnight, became one of the richest in the world. The wealth of these Native Americans immediately attracts the lust of disreputable whites who intrigue, extract and steal as much Osage money as possible before resorting to murder…”
