Scott Pilgrim is back in an animated series on Netflix (teaser)

The entire cast of the 2010 film, signed Edgar Wright, is reunited to voice their respective characters.

Thirteen years after the release of the filmEdgar Wrighta new adaptation of Scott Pilgrim lands on Netflix. This time, no live-action but an animated series that is closer to the original comics written by the Canadian Bryan Lee O’Malley.

The six volumes published between 2004 and 2010 introduce a 22-year-old man, Scott, having to fight the ex-boyfriends of his new girlfriend, Ramona, in order to win her heart.

Despite a failure at the box office for Edgar Wright, who failed to repay his initial budget of 60 million dollars, the film released in 2010 still ended up becoming cult. So for Scott Pilgrim: Takes Off, the entire cast is back to dub their respective characters. We will then find Michael Cera (Scott), Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Ramona), Kieran Culkin (Wallace), Chris Evans (Lucas), Aubrey Plaza (Julie) or even Anna Kendrick (Stacey).

“After much thought about the possibility of an anime adaptation of ‘Scott Pilgrim’, I’m thrilled to announce that it’s IMMINENT, with the entire cast reunited and…you’re going to blow your mind””, affirmed last March the director, who is also a co-producer on the series. Bryan Lee O’Malley produced and co-wrote the series.

“One of the proudest moments of my career was putting together the cast of Scott Pilgrim. Since the movie came out in 2010, we’ve done a lot of Q&As and specials, but we’ve never really had a chance to get the gang together on a project. Until now”he added.

The teaser for the new series announces a rock’n’roll adaptation, punctuated by songs from Scott’s band, Sex Bob-omb. And if the six volumes of the comics were in black and white, the new series, on the contrary, announces a beautiful palette of colors on the screen.

The eight episodes of Scott Pilgrim: Takes Off will be available from November 17 on Netflix.
