Shōgun: an epic dive into medieval Japan (trailer)

This mini-series is based on the historic rise of Ieyasu Tokugawa, a great Japanese lord who reunified peace after 150 years of civil wars.

The FX miniseries Shōgun will be available in France on Disney Plus in February 2024, and should delight fans of historical fiction. Prohibited for children under 16, this show adapted from the best-seller of the same name by James Clavell promises to honor all the complexity of a tense political climate between Japan’s most influential clans. Ten episodes to convey the tension experienced by the English commander John Blackthorne (Cosmos Jarvis), since its shipwreck on the beach of a fishing village. The latter could have a decisive role in the outcome of the fight to the death between Lord Yoshii Toranaga (Hiroyuki Sanada) and the enemies of the Board of Regents.

In the casting, the British actor Cosmos Jarvisswapped his cap Peaky Blinders to blend into the skin of John Blackthorne, formerly played by Richard Chamberlain in the adaptation of Eric Bercovici from 1980. In the role of the lord Hiroyuki Sanada (John Wick: Chapter 4 And The last Samourai) will request the translator services of Toda Mariko, played by the New Zealand singer Anna Sawai (Fast & Furious) on display for the monstrous project Monarch: Legacy of Monsters near Kurt Russell.

Shōgun will be available on Disney+ in February 2024.
