The director is back with her new film which caused a sensation at the Cabourg Festival.

Simple as Sylvain is the third feature film by Monia ChokriAfter My brother’s wife And Baby sitter. The trailer unveils all the ingredients of a contemporary romantic comedy: a fiery love story, a duo of matching actors (Magalie Lepine-Blondeau And Pierre-Yves Cardinal) and replicas that hit the mark. The property of Monia Chokri is to know how to balance comic dialogues and tender and touching atmosphere.

Simple as Sylvain tells the story of Sophia, a philosophy professor in Montreal, in a relationship for ten years with Xavier. When she meets Sylvain, a carpenter hired to renovate their country house, it’s love at first sight. The director tints here her amorous intrigue of class struggle, between an academic and a worker as well as their two worlds which collide.

Presented in Cannes and Cabourg, where it won the Grand Jury Prize, Simple as Sylvain will be released in theaters on November 8, 2023.
