South Series: a festival dedicated to entertainment and networking

The first edition of the South Series International Festival, which will take place in Cádiz from October 6 to 12, “was born in the spirit of the times”explains Joan Álvarez, its director. “We are on a mission to meet the needs of the rise of series, from a production and business perspective as well as talent and culture. We are living in an extraordinary moment for series around the world “.

The public will be able to attend previews of the series of the next season which will be presented by the platforms, classified in four different sections: the Official Section, the Official Non-fiction Section, the Jewels Section, and the Plein Sud Section, which will include productions produced by the Andalusian audiovisual sector.

The third season of the Spanish series “Interviews” (Mediaset España / Netflix) will open the festival on October 7, followed by “Serrines, madera of actor”, a new series with Antonio Resines and Jorge Sanz (Mediaset España / Prime Video). Operación Barrio Inglés (RTVE) or the Norwegian series “Power play” (Filmin), awarded at Cannes Series, or the Israeli “Carthago” (Bleiberg) are some of the titles that can be discovered in Cádiz.

For documentary lovers, South Series will present series such as “Macarena” (Movistar Plus+), which evokes the global musical hit “The Macarena” on the occasion of its 30th anniversary, or “The man who stole the scream” (Sky Original Productions/Curve Media).

In addition to previews, South Series offers a wide range of activities to support commercial exchanges within the international audiovisual industry. Among the speakers confirmed for this first edition are, among others, the Chilean composer Cristóbal Tapia de Veer (The White Lotus And Black Mirror) ; the screenwriter of Birdman And The President, Armando Bó and British producer Gail Egan. The list is completed by professionals of the caliber of directors Chino Moya (Undergods), and Guillem Morales (Inside Nr.9, Urban Myths), as well as Kate Bennetts of Ringside Studios (Connection).

The program intended for the audiovisual industry is supplemented by symposia, conferences and interventions which aim to promote exchange and mutual enrichment between professionals.

South International Series Festival is a private initiative sponsored by the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sports of the Regional Government of Andalusia and co-financed by European funds, with the collaboration of the Cádiz City Hall and the participation of Mediaset España as as the main media partner. Movistar Plus+, the Spain Film Commission, Fundación SGAE, Fundación Bancaria Unicaja and Canal Sur are also collaborating on this first edition.
