Spinal Tap 2 announced with Paul McCartney and Elton John in the cast!
Rob Reiner will be back in front of and behind the camera.
Evoked in the wake of the screening of Spinal Tap on the beach of Cannes, in 2022, the project Spinal Tap 2 comes to fruition today. Forty years after the original, the sequel will begin production in 2024. Filming will begin in February and Rob Reinerwho had already directed the first part at the time, will return to direct.
In the casting, the English legends Paul McCartney And Elton Johnas well as country singer Garth Brooks will make an appearance.
The members of the Spinal Tap group will always be played by Christopher Guest, Michael McKean And Harry Shearerwhile Rob Reiner will return to play Marty DeBergi, the journalist behind the documentary.
The pitch already reveals a few lines of the story: “When it was announced that Spinal Tap would reunite for one final concert, Marty DeBergi saw it as a chance to make things right with the band, who hated the documentary made in the first film. He therefore left his position as assistant professor in the Ed Wood School of Cinematic Arts, to mark the history of cinemahas.”
Spinal Tap is “mockumentary”, a mockumentary about the biggest rock band in the world. If the film failed in theaters when it was released in 1984, it became cult on video in the years that followed.
