Steven Spielberg gave Ryan Gosling a hug after watching The Fall Guy

The interpreter of Ken received one of the greatest compliments of his entire career.

In a few days, Ryan Gosling could well receive his first Oscar for his secondary role in barbie. While waiting to know if the Canadian actor will be honored, he confides to Variety having experienced one of the craziest moments of his entire career thanks to the film's campaign during this season of Hollywood ceremonies: Steven Spielberg rushed at him backstage at the Golden Globes… to tell him all the good things he thought of his latest film!

Ryan Gosling: 'Ken is the hardest role I've ever played'

“I saw Steven Spielberg coming towards me. I didn't think he was coming to talk to me, impossible. Yet he was getting closer. I thought I was going to believe he was going to talk to me, but what he was going to tell me: 'No, not you, I'm pointing to the person behind your back.' But he arrived and when I said: 'Me?', he replied: 'Yes you'. I confessed to him: 'I didn't think you were coming to talk to me.' I was standing there and he hugged me and said: 'I just saw Fall Guy and I loved it.' It doesn't matter what happens now. Steven Spielberg liked this film. It was one of the most important moments of my entire life. I can't wait for audiences to discover this film, it's truly special.”

In this action comedy directed by David Leitch (Deadpool 2, Bullet Train…), Ryan Gosling plays a stuntman in love with a director (Emily Blunt) whose new lead actor (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) is in danger. This is a book adaptation of the hit series from the 1980s The Man Who Fallen.

“The waterfalls are incredible, because they are real, and you can feel the difference, Ryan Gosling also explains to the American magazine. It's a love letter to films, and to all the people who help make them. It's a unique perspective for this kind of film that we love so much, I've never seen it filmed this way, from the people who are really at the heart of the creation and who they don't really receive credit for that, because everyone takes it for granted.”

The Fall Guy will be released in theaters on May 1st. Here is its trailer:
