Still upset, Elisabeth Borne refuses to see Anatomy of a Fall: “I’m stuck”

At her awards ceremony, Justine Triet gave a speech about the social movements against pension reform.

“This year, the country was crossed by a historic, extremely powerful, unanimous protest against pension reform.” It is with these words that the director Justine Triet addresses the subject during his awards speech at the Cannes Film Festival. Crowned with the Palme d’Or, the director ofAnatomy of a fall returns to social movements.

During a speech on September 27 in Tourcoing (via The world), Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne declares that she is always “upset” by the speaking of Justine Triet. Indeed, the filmmaker continued her speech by declaring that “this protest was denied and repressed in a shocking manner”. She then moves her subject to the sphere of cinema, but does not fail to describe this violence as “an increasingly uninhibited pattern of dominating power”. The Minister of Culture, Rima Abdul Malak, immediately reacted on Twitter saying “stunned by his unjust speech“.

Four months later, Elisabeth Borne completely accepts her refusal to see Anatomy of a fall : “I’m blocking”, she declares. This categorical refusal did not prevent the film from exceeding one million admissions at the French box office and joining the very closed circle of Palmes d’Or millionaires with The Life of Adele And Parasite.
