Sydney Sweeney Confirms Which Marvel Character She’ll Play in Madame Web

Madame Web, the Spider-Man spin-off, has found its Spider Woman…

Sony continues to exploit the catalog of characters related to Spider-Man. First appeared in the comic book The Amazing Spider-Man in 1980, under the pen and brush of Denny O’Neil and John Romita, Madame Web is a blind and paralyzed old woman, permanently connected to a vital system (which takes the form of a spider’s web) which gives her psychic superpowers… If we had already known for several months that Sydney Sweeney (Euphoria, The White Lotus, Reality) had joined the cast, one could only speculate what role he had been given in the Marvel Universe. The actress put an end to the rumors in an interview with variety : she will play the role of Julia Carpenter aka Spider Woman. We will find her alongside the star of Fifty Shades of Grey, dakota johnsonin the title role of superheroine Cassandra Webb.

The 25-year-old actress said she “freaked out” when she landed the role. To live up to this character, she recalls buying “every comic book that mentioned her character”…While the superheroes’ recent box office success has been mixed, the reveal ofEuphoria intends to break the trend and surprise the public. “I think it’s different from what people expect from a superhero movie”she assures variety.

If Sony ensures that its stars remain discreet about the film and the details of their role, Sweeney did not hide his enthusiasm: “I couldn’t be more excited. I can’t wait to talk about it.” The young woman who will make her debut in a live action film, however, did not hesitate to talk about her teammates in this first Sony film directed by a female cast:

“I can’t wait to be alongside the girls I’ve filmed with – Dakota, Isabela and Celeste. We had so much fun together. And I’m so excited for the world to see this movie, a concentrate of tough women”.

Celeste O’Connor, Isabela Merced, Emma Roberts, Mike Epps And Adam Scott will complete the distribution of Madame Web. French actor Tahar Rahim has also been announced within this production which will undoubtedly continue to fuel the mystery, while waiting to know definitively more with a first trailer.

Fans will indeed have to wait because the release of Madame Web is planned for February 2024. To wait, you can always find Sydney Sweeney featured in Reality which will be released in French theaters on August 16.
