Taken to the background in Aquaman 2, Amber Heard makes her real return in In the Fire (trailer)

This is the first Hollywood film for the actress since her trial against Johnny Depp.

Amber Heard is returning to the cinema for the first time since her trial with Johnny Depp, which ended in June 2022. After the wave of violence that the actress received on social networks, she was no longer seen in the media space, even less in Hollywood. Next October, she will be on display atIn the fire in the United States, a thriller directed by Conor Allyn set at the end of the 19th century. Alongside Luca Calvani, she plays a mother who must confront a local priest who judges that her autistic child is possessed by the demon.

“The film is a meditation on the almost supernatural powers of love, told through a strong-willed and independent woman at the turn of the 20th century (…) I feel honored to be part of this project and to be at the helm of Conor Allyn’s vision,” the actress said this Wednesday (via The Hollywood Reporter). No French release date has yet been revealed.

At the end of the year, she will also be appearing inAquaman 2, but will obviously have a much less important place than in the first part released in 2018. In the saga, she plays Mera, daughter of King Nereus who also forms the main duo of the first film with Jason Momoa. However, in the trailer for the next opus, revealed on September 14, she only appears for a quarter of a second, in motion, which makes her difficult to identify.

“I pitched that up front to everyone. The first movie was Arthur and Mera’s journey. The second movie was always Arthur and Orm’s journey. Aquaman was a romantic action-adventure movie, Aquaman 2 will be an action-adventure bromance film. We will say no more”director James Wan justified himself to Entertainment Weekly. The video, however, reveals that Arthur and Mera are now married, parents of a baby (very present at the start of the trailer), and that they both reign over Atlantis… Despite this, the character has indeed been put in the background.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will be released in theaters on December 20, 2023.
