Taylor Swift inspires Steven Soderbergh’s next film
The filmmaker talks about his admiration for the successful American singer.
A “Swifties” among Oscar-winning filmmakers? The director Steven Soderbergh is developing a project inspired by the Eras Tour of Taylor Swiftthe highest-grossing tour in music history, the first tour to exceed $1 billion in revenue!
For now, it’s a mysterious, currently untitled project that could be a film or a TV series and cites Taylor Swift’s tour as a major inspiration:
“I’m thinking about a project in which I analyze large-scale efforts that are successful. For example, airports. Why do airports work? Or Taylor Swift ? You are watching the concert of Taylor Swiftthis whole tour that’s going great” he said in Variety. We therefore understand that it will not be directly a film about or around Taylor Swift.
Soderbergh then admitted that he had not seen a concert. Eras Tour live, but he would like to, if he could find tickets. “People laugh when they say that a college course is taught on Taylor Swift. But I say: it’s normal! What she does, the way she does it, no one has ever done that before. The degree of control she has over her career… She’s relentless!”
Recently, it was M. Night Shyamalan who was inspired by Taylor Swift to make his thriller Trapstarring Josh Hartnett (out July).
