The Annecy 2024 festival selects Vaiana 2, the Asterix series from Chabat, Flow, The Most Precious of Goods…
The Annecy festival unveils its program and its highlights.
With a signed poster Regina Pessoa – who won the Cristal for short film in 2006 and is the godmother of the 2024 edition – this year, the Annecy festival pays homage to Portugal, its animation and dance. By coincidence or a sign of destiny, the announcement of the films in competition was made on April 25, 2024 – the anniversary of the Carnation Revolution which led to the fall of the dictatorship in the country.
“Animation and dance are two arts of movement, details the press release. Like the choreographer, like the dancer, the animator expresses himself through movement. This cycle therefore explores the different ways in which dance has nourished and inspired animation filmmakers.”
Within the official programming, feature films from the four corners of the globe showing the diversity of animated art. In particular, there will be Flow And The Most Valuable of Goodstwo animated films also selected as part of the Cannes film festivalas well as the first images of Moana 2 at Disney, from Wild Robot from competitor Dreamworks, from the new Wallace and Gromit from Netflix or even the series that Alain Chabat is concocting aroundAsterix and Obelix: The Battle of the Leaders.

The Annecy festival takes place from June 9 to 14. Wes Anderson (Fantastic Mr. Fox, The Grand Budapest Hotel…) as well as Terry Gilliam (Brazil, Monty Python: Sacred Grail, Army of the 12 Monkeys…) will be the guests of honor.
