The beautiful poster for the 2024 Césars, in homage to animated cinema

A year after highlighting Annette, by Leos Carax, this new visual pays homage to animated cinema.

The Cesar ceremony is getting closer, and its organizers are starting to reveal their tributes. After announcing her mistress of ceremonies (Valérie Lemercier), as well as two honorary Caesars (for Agnès Jaoui and Christopher Nolan), and while waiting to know its official selection this week, here is its poster.

The 49 César ceremony will take place on Friday February 23, and will therefore be in the colors of animation. This is a visual from the short film The Beautiful Girl and the Sorcererof Michel Ocelot, which was chosen to illustrate this new edition. When it was released in 1992, the director had already been honored with a César for best animated short film for The Legend of the Poor Hunchback (1983). Then, in 2019, the creator of Kirikou received a trophy again, for his feature film Dilili in Paristhis time.

“In each of his works, he uses his art and poetry in a unique cinematographic style, to amaze us and transport us into dreamlike universes, through narrative forms distilling messages of peace and tolerance”write the organizers about the French artist in their press release accompanying this poster.

It is also specified that “the Academy wanted to pay tribute to animation and short films” with this official poster of the 49th edition of the Césars. Two categories which are generally little highlighted during ceremonies.

This poster illustrated by The Beautiful Girl and the Sorcerer follows beautiful visuals: last year, it was Annetteby Leos Caraxwho had the honor of representing the Caesars, and the previous year, it was Pierrot le fouof Jean-Luc Godardwith Jean-Paul Belmondo And Anna Karina.

Christopher Nolan will receive an honorary César this year
