Highly anticipated 2010 post-apocalyptic film, but ultimately received with mixed reception and barely $150 million at the worldwide box office, The Book of Eli will reopen with a new chapter.

A prequel series is in development, starring the star of the final trilogy Star Wars, John Boyega. He would take over the role of Eli, this Mad Max-style hero, initially played by Denzel Washington At the movie theater. Gary Whitta – the screenwriter of the film – will be creator, writer and executive producer of this series, also produced by the directors of The Book of Eli, Albert and Allen Hughes.

The series would take place approximately 30 years before the film, around the time of the nuclear event that destroyed the world.

For the moment, no channel or platform has yet acquired the project, which therefore has no date.
