The Boys will be careful not to make too many spin-off series after Gen V

A producer admits that “the public quickly perceives when you make a series just to make another series…”

The first “live” spin-off of The Boys is already a success. Gen V made a spectacular debut on Prime Video, boosted by particularly positive reviews. Enough to give ideas to the streaming platform? Producer Pavun Shetty (Amazon Studios) tempers and promises in an interview with ComicBook.com that Prime Video will not multiply series derived from The Boys.

“We’re lucky that fans love the show so much and Gen V generated such excitement. There are a lot of characters we can build on from there and a lot of different periods in comics we could capitalize on. But we’re going to have to be very careful and smart about what we do next.”

The producer confides that the studio will proceed cautiously and explains at the same time that the franchise cannot spread itself too thin, at the risk of losing fans along the way:

“We would like to have several series, but I think the audience of The Boys is truly wise and cultured. It’s an audience that expects us to make a new series for good reasons, something that has a real story to tell, that adds to the universe of The Boys, something that remains connected to this world. I think the public quickly perceives when you make a series just to make another series. So we’re really going to have to think about what the next one could be and how it might fit into the universe. It has to be a piece of the overall puzzle, that it fits into the universe of the main series and that it is not there just to do something extra.”

Note that there already exist two spin-offs of The Boyssince in addition to Gen VPrime Video has already broadcast the animated series The Boys Presents: Diabolical.
