This two-part classic from Robert Vernay tells the adventures of Edmond Dantès, thrown into prison at the Château d’If, separated from his fiancée Mercedes. This is the first color adaptation of the novel byAlexandre Dumas. Jean Marais takes over the role formerly played by Pierre Richard-Willm – in the first part (The betrayal), the hero is the victim of a plot, engineered by three jealous people, in search of recognition. The second part (Revenge) highlights a vengeful redemption. These two opuses know how to keep you in suspense until the end.
Dumas’ novel continues to inspire, and as proof, after the two parts of Three Musketeersa new adaptation of Count of Monte Cristo is preparing to take over theaters in December 2024. It is Pierre Niney who is featured in the project, carried by Alexandre de la Patellièreson of Denyswho, in the 70s had adapted the count of Monte Cristo serial. The first information on the project can be found in the new issue of Firstwith a most refreshing Edmond Dantès on the cover. the count of Monte Cristo is due to be released in cinemas on December 11, 2024.
